What Holiday 2025 Taught Us About Winning 2026 With Creators

Holiday is the biggest, highest stakes quarter in creator marketing, and it just got harder to win. Brands activated more creators, published more content, and boosted more posts than ever before. Yet attention per post fell almost everywhere, engagement softened, and even the loudest, most heavily resourced campaigns didn't guarantee results. More effort didn't mean more impact.

After analyzing creator marketing performance across Beauty, Personal Care, Fashion, Food & Beverage, and Adult Beverage in Traackr's 2026 State of Holiday Season Report, one thing is clear: the brands that won Holiday 2025 didn't do it by showing up the loudest.

Which is why the question for 2026 isn't "how much more should we activate?" It's "where does our attention actually come from, and how do we protect it before the season gets crowded again?"

Holiday 2026: What the data reveals

Looking at creator marketing performance data from Q4 2025 and the first half of 2026, one pattern stands out: volume surged everywhere, but attention didn't keep pace.

Every major holiday theme (BFCM deals, stocking stuffers, advent calendars, gift guides, holiday hauls) grew in post volume year over year. Almost none of them grew in attention per post. BFCM was the most extreme case: content volume grew 2.5x, yet attention per post collapsed 63% and engagement rate fell from 0.80% to 0.52%. Gift guides were the lone exception, the only theme to grow both post volume (+20%) and attention per post (+17%) at the same time, an early signal that multi-brand, useful content holds up where single-brand exclusives don't.

The brands that led the category didn't win by spending the most. They won on retention: 57% of their holiday attention came from creators they already had relationships with earlier in the year, versus 51% for the rest of the market. They also grew across every creator tier, from VIP down to nano, while the rest of the market lost ground at the top. And they built a real organic foundation first (78% of their attention was earned organically, versus 71% for everyone else) before layering paid on top.

The affiliate map is shifting too. TikTok Shop and ShopMy are surging in attention (+161% and +157% respectively) while LTK and Amazon are declining even as their post counts climb, a sign that budget still weighted toward the older platforms is chasing attention that's already leaving.

Taken together, the takeaway for 2026 is clear: advantage doesn't come from posting louder during the most crowded week of the year. It comes from knowing which creator relationships and content formats already work, and building on them before the season gets crowded again.

The real advantage is knowing what content actually earns a save

That's where Traackr's multimodal AI analysis comes in.

Beyond the platform and spend data, we analyzed 10,279 posts to understand what actually drives saves and shares, the highest intent signal in a crowded feed. Four dimensions stood out:

  • Brands in frame: posts with 6 to 10 brands earned 2.44x more Instagram saves than single-brand posts, against the instinct that exclusivity reads as premium
  • Setting and framing: close-up shots in home settings won; full-body shots at events bottomed out at 0.43x Instagram saves
  • Color palette: warm tones like peach and burgundy drove up to 3.54x Instagram saves, while festive metallics like silver and gold fell flat
  • Call to action: a clear ask lifted Instagram saves 1.35x, yet only 24% of posts included one

Winning brands aren't briefing for the polished, festive, single-brand "holiday look." They're briefing for what the data actually says earns a save: content that's intimate, product-dense, and warm.

The takeaway is simple: the content that earns saves runs opposite to the holiday instinct.

Why this matters now, and how to act on it

“Holiday is both the hardest and most important season for brands to get right. It's a constantly evolving season, and the brands that consistently outperform aren't necessarily doing more. They're planning earlier, building on trusted creator relationships, measuring what matters, and adapting quickly as the season unfolds. Just as importantly, they're capturing what they learn.” – Pierre-Loïc Assayag, CEO & Co-founder at Traackr
